The last meeting of the Kansas editorial associati ...
May 0, 1881, Topeka Capital (ID 2087)

The last meeting of the Kansas editorial association was held in Topeka in 1879. It was then agreed that the next meeting should be held at Lawrence. These conventions are usually held in June and, the national party conventions being held in that month last year, it was thought best to postpone the editorial meeting. In the meantime, several local associations as the Neosho Valley, the Arkansas Valley, the Golden Belt, etc., editorial associations have been organized, and all of them hold one or more conventions this year; so that when the officers of the state association met in Topeka on the 9th to consider the subject of holding a convention in 1881, the field seemed so much occupied that it was concluded not to call a convention this year, but to announce now that one will be called for June 1882, during commencement exercises at the State University in Lawrence. This will give time for all the local associations to arrange their business so as not to conflict with the state society....Captain King has announced that in 1882 an excursion to California will be tendered to the association....
